Parents

Thank You Husky Supporters!

Thank you everyone who donated to support the Husky hospitality Tents at the PAC 10, NCAA and IRA regattas. Your generous donations gave Husky fans a place to congregate, cheer our teams on, and celebrate, with a bit extra for the kitty looking toward next year. Special thanks to venue coordinators; Amy and Dan Osjerkis at IRA and Renee Moore at NCAA for your outstanding dedication to the cause. We could not have done it without you!

Next year the Rowing Stewards are taking a more active role in facilitating these events. Look for more information  in the fall. Know we will still need the support of our outstanding parents and alum to be successful!

Have a great summer everyone. Make sure you cheer on our Dawgs competing around the world. We will see you September.

2011 IRA Food Sign-Up:  Planning to be at the alum/parents/friends tent at the 2011 IRA Regatta?  Here is the food sign up list - Amy Ojserkis has volunteered to coordinate the food so please respond directly to her at amyojserkis@gmail.com to sign up for items: parents_files\IRA Food Sign-up List.pdf.  Thank you!

Husky Parents are going to be hard at work again May 27 -29th as the ladies compete in the NCAA Rowing Championships at Lake Natoma. Renee Moore (reneepm@pacbell.net) has volunteered to organize the tent effort to offer Husky fans a place to gather, get some food and drink and support our team. This is a 100% volunteer undertaking.  If you are planning on being at the race send her an email and see how you can help out!

Thank you,  Sally

Next up for our Huskies are the PAC 10s at Lake Natoma in Sacramento.

The UW Rowing Parent Group is hosting the hospitality tent at the regatta.

We will have coffee, muffins and bagels for the morning and finish the afternoon with a picnic lunch. If you are planning on attending the event and can give us a hand with preparing food, shopping, or providing coolers, cooking utensils and the like, please email me (if you haven’t already). We can use all the help we can get!

We are still looking for a volunteer to coordinate the NCAA event for the women’s team.

I would love to hear from you if you can do it!

Here’s to another great weekend of racing.

Go Dawgs!

Next up for our Dawgs is Opening Day and the Windermere Cup on Saturday May 7th.  The Rowing Stewards run the hospitality tent at the finish line and are looking for some volunteers to lend them a hand.

They need 6-8 people. Entry into the enclosure is free for volunteers.  Here are some of the tasks they need help with:

-- Early morning set up at the finish;  tables, chairs, food, arrive by 7:30am

-- Staff the front entrance table, collecting entrance fee from guests, arrive by 8am

-- Food preparation and restocking of food table, arrive by 8am

-- Deliver leftover food to shellhouse at noon, need car for this job

-- Clean up site, take down tables and chairs, beginning at noon til done

They make sure everyone gets to see the races they are interested in! Contact Betsy at sundancejs@comcast.net if you are interested.  More information on the races and the Stewards' Enclosure is here - Windermere Cup 2011

Thank you in advance for your help and we will see you at the races.

Sally reports from Dexter Lake OR:  <<Tom Stevens (86) coordinated an awesome spread on Saturday for supporters of the team. He did a pulled pork lunch which was fantastic. I did not get good race shots but here is a picture of Tom and his son Nick at the tent. Sorry for the porta-potties in the background ( weak photographer). There was another alum...Bill Stevens (class of 51 I believe) and his wife Cornie, their daughter and grand daughter who also chipped in with food. After the race we were able to visit with the rowers before they boarded their bus back home. A great day was had by all DAWG fans.>>

Thank you to all of the alums/friends/parents, particularly our alums in Oregon, who helped organize this event!

Welcome to the 2011 Rowing Season Husky Parents!

I have volunteered to help inform and coordinate parents of Husky rowers this season. My husband Bob and I have a junior (Rob) on the men’s team. I would love to have a volunteer from the women’s team to share the duties with me as the teams do not always compete together.

This weekend the action starts for the men at Dexter Lake in Oregon. They will be rowing as part of the Covered Bridge Regatta. There are links to the regatta including a tentative schedule and driving directions on the Race Results page. The more Husky fans the better!

The Husky Rowing Stewards have organized a hospitality tent for the event so look for the purple and gold if you are at the race and join the gang to root on the Dawgs. Sounds like there should be some good food on tap, feel free to bring something to add to the fare. The tent is being organized by UW alumni in Oregon. Let's make sure to thank them for their efforts.

We look forward to seeing everyone at the races. If you have any questions regarding Husky rowing whether you are a novice to rowing or an experienced veteran, feel free to email me.

GO DAWGS!
